Welcome Back
We hope you're all off to a fantastic start in the new school year. It's about to get even better! The Rainforest Alliance Learning Site is now packed with even more lessons, more activities and more resources than ever before - everything you need to connect your students to conservation.

| The Learning Site now has more resources than ever! |
You may have already noticed the new look of the Learning Site. Not only has the entire Rainforest Alliance Web site been revamped, we've also been working in partnership with the Antioch Graduate School of New England to improve and expand the Rainforest Alliance curriculum to better fit the needs of educators and students. Now kindergarten through sixth grade teachers can access unique multidisciplinary units for each grade level. Each new unit features three to four complete lesson plans designed to more closely connect US students to conservation issues in Latin America, as well as provide them with even more opportunities to play a part in rainforest conservation.

| Your students will love learning about sustainable chocolate. |
This Halloween, use the delicious new activities on the Learning Site to teach your students about chocolate and rainforests. Our third and fourth grade curriculum is a perfect complement to October lessons. Your students can learn about sustainable cocoa farming in Ecuador - and then taste the chocolate for themselves! Rainforest Alliance Certified chocolate is grown without pesticides under the shaded canopy of the rainforest, which serves as a refuge for howler monkeys, ocelots and parrots. Click here to order Rainforest Alliance Certified chocolate. Use our new cocoa species profile to supplement your lessons. You can even hold a chocolate bake sale at your school to raise money to support a community in Ecuador that protects their rainforests while growing chocolate.

You still have two days to meet the early bird deadline for the 33rd Annual Conference of the North American Association for Environmental Education. This year's conference will be held in Biloxi, Mississippi from November 6-10. You are invited to learn about new technologies used in the classroom, the latest teaching techniques and cutting-edge research in environmental education. Visit www.naaee.org/conferences for more information and to register for the conference. We'll see you there!

We've been reaching out to principals in Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles and New York, telling them about the wealth of resources available on the Learning Site. Do you think your school district could benefit from our offerings? Let us know! Email us at education@ra.org.
